How it started and Our 1st success story

On #GivingTuesday 2018 Humaniq has launched a fundraising campaign for the B-Gifted Foundation in Sierra Leone.

The goal was to collect $1500 in donations to distribute teddy bears and toys to kids who were left orphaned by the Ebola outbreak, and we absolutely smashed that objective!

Within 6 days we reached the full $1500, and after 4 more days of the campaign’s run we collected a total of $3200, doubling our initial goal and bringing joy to twice as many children!

How was Humaniq involved?

As part of the Humaniq For Good platform initiative, B-Gifted Foundation was our first Nonprofit Organization partner, a charity operating in Sierra Leone for more than 8 years.

The pilot with B-Gifted Foundation involved launching a crowdfunding campaign that would allow both crypto and traditional payment methods. The project proposed for funding was Teddy Bears for Smiles, a yearly initiative that hands out teddy bears and other toys to orphan children around various communities in Sierra Leone. Children around the world love their toys, which bring joy and hope to all small children — especially those living in tough conditions.

The results

This is the first time that B-Gifted Foundation received donations in cryptocurrency, which made up as much as 43% of the entire pool of funds.

Utilizing the versatility and transparency of Blockchain, the funds were successfully transferred and converted into SLL, the national currency of Sierra Leone. The teddies were bought and successfully distributed to the first 50 children at the Kroobay Community in Freetown, who suffered from the devastating Ebola epidemic that plagued the country.
